22nd ERSCP 2025: Conference in Prague, Czechia

21st ERSCP 2023: Conference at Wageningen Campus, Netherlands

The 21st ERSCP was organized jointly with (SCORAI) and Wageningen University and took place on July 5-8, 2023. This conference provided a platform for exploring a wide range of practices, experiences and policy initiatives in the context of cutting-edge interdisciplinary sustainable consumption and production research.

Scholars and practitioners, such as business representatives, innovators, policy makers, activists, and members of communities engaged in sustainable consumption initiatives, participated with concrete ideas, methods and examples of how to inspire learning and change. By many measures the conference was a success.

The beautiful venue hosted approximately 450 participants on site and 100 others joined us online, and the atmosphere was that of intense conversations and high-quality presentations on a wide range of topics. The post-conference survey gave high marks in terms of opportunities to learn new things, an inspiring range of discussion topics and quality of presentations, including the keynotes.

20th ERSCP 2021: Conference in Graz, Austria

The 20th edition of the European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production took place from the 8th to the 10th of September 2021 in Graz, Austria. More than 200 participants from all over the globe could enjoy 40 different thematic sessions on the campus Inffeldgasse of the TU Graz, complemented with an eco-profit excursion and a poster session on top-edge research solutions towards sustainable consumption and production topics. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the very few participants who could not physically attend the conference were joining online.

100 presentations from diverse disciplines were held followed by fruitful discussions. Besides the classic expertise and knowledge transfer in the form of presentations and workshops, a strong focus was put on informal exchange and networking opportunities. The event was organized as a so-called green event meaning that the provided food and drinks were vegetarian or vegan and from local/regional farmers. A dinner in the picturesque former university hall upon invitation by the Styrian governor and the mayor of Graz was rounding down the first evening of the conference. The atmosphere and the randomized sitting order stimulated exchange. On Thursday evening the conference peaked at a party where the ERSCP band was playing and a DJ was motivating to dance. 19th ERSCP 2019: Conference in Barcelona, Spain

The 19th ERSCP conference took place 15-18 October in Barcelona, Spain. It was organised by the Institute for Sustainability Science and Technology and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – Barcelona Tech. A special volume for the Journal of Cleaner Production entitled “Progress towards the Circular Economy and Sustainable Consumption and Production: Design, Consumption and Production perspectives“, dedicated to the 19th ERSCP 2019, was published in 2021.

18th ERSCP 2017: Conference in Skiathos, Greece

The 18th ERSCP conference took place 1-5 October, Skiathos, Greece. The overarching theme was “A GREEner Challenge and Evolution in the Framework of the Circular Economy”. The local organising committee was led by Prof Aravossis Konstantinos, National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and included Dr Vasalis Kapsalis. Nearly 150 participants contributed to state of the art discussions on SCP Circular Economy, Sustainable Lifestyle practices, waste management, sustainable and circular business models, and design for sustainability and circularity. The programme included regular paper & poster sessions, workshops, special sessions, mini-roundtables and social events, including a welcome cocktail party, a conference dinner and party in the open air, and excursions.

A Special Issue in the Journal Energies was published with papers from the conference edited by Vasileios C. Kapsalis and Konstantinos Aravossis.
