Last Roundtable 2025

From 15–18 September 2025, Prague hosted the 22nd European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP), held in the Czech Republic for the first time.

It was organized by EMPRESS (an NGO focusing on SCP issues) in cooperation with the Czech University of Life Sciences and the ERSCP Society. The theme of this roundtable was “Multi-stakeholder cooperation on sustainability: Role of business, academia, public sector, and civil society in Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP)” focusing on connecting research, practice, and policy in the field of sustainable consumption and production.

The conference attracted around 180 participants and featured 4 keynote sessions and 35 parallel sessions. The opening was delivered by Janez Potočnik, previous EU Commissioner, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel and Member of the Club of Rome, who emphasized the interconnectedness of social and ecological systems and the urgent need for systemic change toward a circular economy.

The program covered a wide range of topics, including:

  1. Policy for Green Transition – balancing climate ambition with competitiveness and citizen trust;
  2. Sustainable Finance – linking practical banking instruments with long-term systemic insight;
  3. Digitalization and Circular Innovations – from water and waste management to ESG reporting and reuse in production;
  4. Sustainable Consumption and Lifestyles – emphasizing inclusive dialogue, alternative economies, and relational ways of living.
