Behind the scenes

As we prepare for the upcoming ERSCP Conference, we’re excited to share an update on the Best Article Award selection process — recognizing outstanding academic contributions in the field of sustainable production and consumption.
This year, we received 12 article nominations from across Europe and beyond, showcasing impressive work on topics ranging from circular economy innovation to community-based consumption, digital product passports, and urban sustainability transitions.

To ensure quality, only peer-reviewed and published articles were eligible for final evaluation.
Submissions that were unpublished or appeared in journals considered predatory by several academic institutions were not considered for the award.

Each eligible article was reviewed by three members of the ERSCP Board: Maria, Elisabeth and Aida, based on the following criteria:

  • Novelty and originality
  • Social relevance and integration of production-consumption systems
  • Journal impact (Scimago rank & SJR)
  • Relevance to the ERSCP scope

We are proud of the transparency and rigor of this process, and grateful to all authors for contributing high-quality research that pushes the boundaries of sustainability science and practice.

The Best Article Award winner and a list of recommended contributions will be announced during the ERSCP 2025 Conference. Stay tuned!
